Men’s Team

Our Men’s team competes in the Gridiron Tasmania Men’s Competition. Every season we play to win the Gridiron Tasmania Tiger Bowl. Each year pre-season training begins in July and the regular season commences in mid September and finishes in mid December.

The team is open to anyone aged 16 and above, our team welcomes players from all walks of life, whether you're a seasoned athlete or new to the game.

2024 SEASON INFORMATION

Pre-Season

First Session: Wednesday 3rd July (then every Wednesday following)

Location: Upper Domain Rd, Queens Domain TAS 7000

Time: 6pm - 9pm

What to Bring: Football boots, mouth-guard, water bottle.

Rookie Information: No experienced is required to come and give the game try and join the team. We recommend committing to 4 sessions before making a decision if the game is for you. The club has all the gear you require to play that you can borrow (included in your rookie registration fees). You should wear shorts, a t-shirt, and football boots to practice, and also bring along a mouth guard and water bottle. Practice begins at 6pm sharp so we ask rookies to arrive at around 5:30pm to make sure they can get their helmet and shoulder pads fitted and be ready for practice to begin.

FAQs

Do I need to have played Gridiron or Rubgy before?

No, we accept players from all skill levels. While some knowledge of the game beforehand is appreciated we will teach you everything you need to know.

Can I still join if I have other commitments, like work or school?

Yes, We understand many players have busy lives. We encourage responsible time management and communication with coaches if conflicts arise. Discuss your availability during the registration process.

How old do I need to be?

16 is the minimum age requirement of our league.

What equipment do I need to play?

We supply helmets, jerseys & lowers. All you will need to play are cleats & a mouth guard. There will be an opportunity to purchase your own named jersey each season.

Are there any medical requirements or tests to join?

No, there are no pre-tests or requirements but basic fitness is required. Gridiron is a heavy contact sport so there is always a high risk of injury.

How much time should I expect to dedicate to the league?

We train twice a week - Once on Wednesdays for 2 hours at Calvin Christian School in Kingston, and for 2 hours before the game on Saturdays. Some games are located up in Launceston which requires around 8-9hrs due to the included travel time.
